Mani Monday: Essie Chinchilly & Sonia Kashuk Dime a Dozen

The weather is finally warming up where I live. Why, today it’s blazing hot at 70 degrees! You may think I’m bringing out the neons and brights but instead, I went with an Essie classic greige. After wearing my gorgeous Easter mani, I felt like I wanted a break from brights and pastels. I’m in a chill mood, so I went with a standby neutral staple, Essie Chinchilly with an accent nail featuring Sonia Kashuk Dime a Dozen.

Everyone’s got those lazy Mondays right? That’s exactly how I’m feeling. So I’ve got this chic mani that’s parfait for today. Yea, mad rhyming skills. I know.

(L-R) Essie Chinchilly, Sonia Kashuk Dime a Dozen

Chinchilly is a shade women swear by. This gray beige is a shifter, it can go from an understated greige to a purpley taupe. It’s an easy 2 coat formula with a hit of crelly in it. Remember when colors like these were super popular? The days when OPI You Don’t Know Jacques was painted on everyone’s digits? Yea, those two are cult classics.

Honestly, I never got into it like others. Chinchilly was nice, but I just didn’t make me feel “Woah! This is the best thing ever!” Things have changed a little, I go to it every now and then when I don’t know what to wear and I’m just feeling bleh. Or sometimes it’s just because I don’t want to think about matching anything. I have those days when I just want to slap on some polish and be done with it. I have really grown to adore it.

Great lighter options (also from Essie) to replace Chinchilly is Miss Fancy Pants or even Take it Outside from their most recent fall collection. If you’re looking for a matte version, Comfy in Cashmere from the new Essie Cashmere Matte collection is your polish. I even have a comparison shot in that post that has Comfy in Cashmere, Chinchilly and Miss Fancy Pants side by side for reference.

As for my ring fingers, I accented my manicure with a new polish I bought on clearance at Target. Dime a Dozen is my first nail lacquer from Sonia Kashuk. This is a brown polish but it’s pretty! Brown polish is almost always chic. When you lace in some gold and pearly pink-blue shimmer like in Dime a Dozen, you’ve got a sleek brown with some stunning qualities.

If this wasn’t something you were head over heels with, I have some other Mani Monday posts you may find nailspiration from, or click through my easy nail art posts. Actually, have you see my watermarble mani for Easter? I’m quite proud of it!
