It’s March and you know what that means! Spring is coming. In less than 2 weeks, it will be the first day of spring! Yes. Where I live, there’s still remanence of snow from the most recent storm we’ve had. It’s hard to think warm thoughts when you’re bundled up in 3+ layers just to walk a block to the store. I love the winter time and all the snow, but I am fending for some warmer temperatures.
Although spring won’t be here for a couple of weeks, I’m gonna bring some heat with my nails. Forget the icy blues, I’m going straight to the bright warm shades! Today, I have CoverGirl’s XL Nail Gel in Overblown Orange to share with you. This hot orange gives me the feels.
Overblown Orange has an easy opaque jelly formula. I’m not gonna call it a crelly because it’s not exactly creamy, but it does glide on easily. It’s so hard to explain, it’s very pigmented and needs just your standard 2 coats to opacity. The finish is nice and glossy. It dries with a plump gel-look and it is so squishy looking. Swoon. My goodness. I need more of these!

In some lights, this orange can change into a fiery red.

I normally overlook CoverGirl’s nail polishes. I think it may be because I don’t find their shades to be unique. Being a nail polish addict, I own many of the shades they have in their line. I tend to be more reluctant to buy drugstore nail polishes when I know I may own a similar shade. It’s strange, I’ll buy Essie polishes even if they’re only a hair different, but I won’t do that for other brands… Tell me I’m not alone here!
Wanna know something cool? All the polishes from CoverGirl’s line have removable caps. Like Chanel, Dior and all those high-end brands. I was looking at a review of some Flower Beauty nail polishes and saw that if you pulled off their tops, it revealed a normal polish wand. After that, I just went through everything in my collection with one of those tops and guess what, every single one came off! Well, some were a little peskier to pry off though.
So if you ever though the square tops are annoying, just pop ’em off! Be gone!

If you’re like me and haven’t ventured into CoverGirl nail polishes, these would be a great place to start. The gel like looks so plump and squishy, I may just have to buy all of them! Usually, these CoverGirl XL Nail Gels are around $7-8 each, but I’ve spotted them on clearance at Walgreens for $4. If you can get your hands on them, I’d say grab a few of your favorite shades.
