L’Oreal Raise the Flag (Swatches & Review)

July 4th is fast approaching and of course we’re all looking for our manis for this special occasion. Here’s a new polish from L’Oreal that could be your polish of choice to sport red, white and blue on your nails this year’s Independence Day. I spotted this L’Oreal display and skipped on them all except for this unique polish. I’m gonna keep this one short and sweet, so let’s just skip to the good stuff!

Here’s a pic of the whole display. There’s a theme of red, white and blue with this whole limited edition collection–which leads me to wonder whether this collection will be available internationally. Is it exclusive to the U.S. or will it be out in all countries with these flag colors?

Raise the Flag is a matte bar glitter mix. This densely packed red, white and blue medley contains short, extremely thin bars. Different from the traditional bar glitter we’re used to seeing. The clear base is a good viscosity, it’s not super thick like many drugstore glitter polishes.

The thin bars make me think of the Sally Hansen Fuzzy Coat polishes from a few years ago. They look like little pieces of fuzz or in some cases, they’ve been said to give a feather effect. Nails Inc has had a line of bar glitter polishes marketed as Feather Effect polishes. To me, Raise the Flag makes me think of fireworks! Imagine it over black and arranged in circular clusters to give a stronger fireworks effect.

I don’t know how I feel about this polish. I typically don’t like bar glitter but because these are so thin and fine, they don’t bother me very much. I think it’ll be great over black and I’m going to try that soon, pics will be shared on Instagram. So what do you think? Lazy girl’s shortcut to a July 4th fireworks mani?

Did you know I have reviews of other patriotic glitters for this year? Be sure to take a look at Sinful Colors’ Star Blast Off and Formula X’s Glory.
