Essie Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low (Winter 2014)

This year, Essie has released a controversial collection for winter. A variety of pinks fill this new collection and I am not a fan of pink. What’s worse, the name of this collection is not grammatically correct. I’m just going to take the liberty of dropping the ‘w’ and refer to this collection simply as “Jiggle Hi Jiggle Lo.”

It would have been best if this was released as a Breast Cancer Awareness collection. I think it’s a bit much that Essie released these new polishes for winter in the same hue as their BCA collection. I mean, there has to be some limits right? Check out my post of the gorgeous pink glitter I chose from this collection, here! You know, it would look great over any color from this collection.

Out of the six polishes from the new collection, I picked out three. I wasn’t very thrilled with the assortment, but I firmly believed that there would be a gem hidden in this release.

Back in the Limo was the first polish I picked out. Every now and then, although I despise pink, I try to dip my fingernails in it. This baby peach jelly has a hint of dustiness to it, which makes up for the fact that it’s released in a winter collection. This one is super sheer, but it is easily buildable. I’m sure no one likes piling on coats of polish, so I would recommend this one for those who love french manicures. It’s a refreshing change to use a pinky peach as a base for a french manicure.

Although Back in the Limo is sheer. It has decent coverage. Check it out for yourself.

If you love the color of Back in the Limo, but the formula scares you a bit, here are some alternatives. Sally Hansen Floaties and Essie’s A Crewed Interest are generally in the same color family, except these are both creams. On the nails, these three look very similar. Since Sally Hansen Floaties was limited edition for summer this year, I recommend grabbing yourself a bottle of A Crewed Interest.

For my second choice, I picked up Jump in My Jumpsuit. I held this one in my hands and thought to myself, where have I seen this before?” It didn’t take me long to realize Essie has done this red many many times before. I would call this polish a winter berry color. Attention: one coater!

I, myself don’t own many Essie reds, but I do have one to show you. Dress to Kilt, released recently for fall 2014 in the Dress to Kilt collection. They are basically dupes of each other. If you’re really analyzing each color I would say Jump in My Jumpsuit is just a hair darker, but really, they’re dupes.

For my last and final polish choice. I picked up this shimmery silvery polish named Jiggle Hi Jiggle Low. You know I must pick up the polish that’s the namesake of a collection! Boy, was I surprised by this one. I was initially expecting a silver shimmery polish, but this actually has a gold sheen to it. This is basically a white gold nail polish with a fantastic formula. So pretty. So worth it. This one actually has winter all over it. Glitz and glam in just one coat.

If you just want a strictly silver shimmer polish, there’s always Orly Dazzle.

Just like the OPI Nordic collection released for fall, this collection was a little of a disappointment. What I mean is both had polishes featuring colors that don’t exactly suit the seasons they were released for. Although this is true, they both have polishes worth checking out. For the Jiggle Hi Jiggle Lo collection, there was only one polish that really stood out to me. Jiggle Hi Jiggle Lo is so beautiful and unique. This white gold nail polish is amazing! This one coater is definitely one you should pick up from this year’s winter collection.

I found something I liked, but I gotta say, I’m still pretty disappointed. This release looks more like a collection for BCA than a winter collection. Well, I was pretty happy with the BCA collection they put out this year. Check out the amazing polish I picked up, here!

If you’re looking for more on the new winter collections, the new OPI collection will be coming soon! Oh, in addition, there are two new Essie luxeffects that were released this winter. Stay tuned for those as well!
