It’s fall. Before we start bringing in the red and the green, let’s embrace what this season has to offer. I’m enjoying the cooler weather and the occasional warm days we’re still getting here in the Mid-Atlantic.
So let’s roll out my reviews of these still somewhat new fall collections. The first of these I have to share with you is from China Glaze.
What a cute name, Combat Blue-Ts. Out of curiosity, did you read that as “bloo-tees” or “bluts”? Boots or booties?
Anyway, this is a true blue with great pigmentation. It’s a one coater with a soft matte finish. I love that they added some shimmer to give this matte some dimension. I advise you to work fast with this because the formula can tend to clump up, so don’t try to manipulate it on the nail too much.
Look at how deliciously rich this blue is! Beautiful.

Hit it with some flash and boy, this polish is not shy.

It also looks amazing with a glossy top coat but why would you when it’s such a stunner as is?!

If you’re looking for something bolder, how about Ya’ll Red-y For This? This is another one coater with loads silver shimmer. Although it has fabulous coverage and you can get away with one coat, the formula is super thin so I’m more comfortable with using two just to plump it up a bit. Due to the shimmer, this can end up looking a little textured and dull, so I’d recommended topping this with a top coat.

Pearl Jammin’ is a gorgeous polish that I knew I just had to grab up to try. If Cinderella’s dress was put into a polish, this would be it. It’s a cool light blue with golden opal shimmer. I expected this to be extremely sheer, but was pleasant surprised to see it was nearly opaque in two coats. It also isn’t super brushstokey and that definitely won me over!
Be patient with this one and let your polish dry completely in between coats, this way you don’t push around the layer underneath.

Stunning right? Here’s one more photo with natural light.
Another one I was initially excited about was Heroine Chic. It looked like a nice edgy polish that would bring variety to my collection. It’s a metallic gray with fine pinky red shimmer. The metallic base doesn’t work well with this, it leaves behind so many brush strokes that distract from the beautiful shimmer. Instead of loving this like I thought I would, I ended up regretting this one.

Is it me or does it seem that China Glaze is a mainstream brand that’s usually put on the back burner? People tend to overlook their collections but I think they put out some solid polishes. Don’t sleep on these!
Before I let you go, I want to apologize for a few things. First of all, for neglecting my beloved blog. There are reasons stacked on reasons, but I’ll give that a rest. I’m just happy to be here again and to be painting my nails again. Last time I was here, I thought I was ready to pamper my nails again and to share my polish addiction again, but well, as you can see, that didn’t quite happen. Here’s my attempt at starting up again!
I’m doing my best to get back into the game and review all the fall collections that have been living on my desk these few months. Then hopefully I won’t be too late with reviewing the new winter collections. Fingers-crossed!
